Full Version: bought a box of Italian hankies

At this time of the year open air flea markets are very common in Belgium.
I like them as they are the perfect place for finding maritime history books - another interest of mine.

Last week, when going through a pile of books, my attention was drawn to a flat square cardboard box on the table next to the books, red colour with a skiing figure on it, and the magical words 'Skiatore fazzoletti'... YES! I understand that much Italian... I lifted the cover slowly, and a wonderful set of male hankies, still held together with a linen ribbon and marked with a golden seal, was in front of me.

It was the kind of box I have seen on Italian markets, but in a vintage version. Filled with big hankies in 6 different hues/patterns. WOOOOWW !

For only 1 EUR I bought the whole box. I quickly put it in my bag and hoped the lady behind the stall had not noticed how excited I felt about my purchase.

They sound great! I bet you are torn between looking forward to using them and not wanting to unwrap them! Any chance of a photo before you do?

Hey Sneezes, how are you? I am enjoying your contributions to the forum, keep it up.

I noticed on that Italian hankies thread, that you can't find anywhere in the UK that sells them?

Well I am a dab hand at hankie buying in the UK. May I ask whereabouts in the UK are you?

Some tips for hankie buying, M&S always have some, as do BHS and Next. All three do plain white hankies but also a more modern range of handkerchief. Other mens stores will as well.

I love hankie shopping, it's fun.

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers
