On Episode 2 of New Amsterdam tonight, a female character was crying, and the main character (detective) handed her a blue-striped handkerchief from the side pocket of his suit jacket. She didn't really do much with it. His character is supposed to be 400 years old and originally from Holland, so I suppose it's natural that he carries a handkerchief.

A guy blowing his nose in his handkerchief, and then a second pic (much rarer) where he looks into it afterwards and asks "Why do we always look? Are we expecting to find our lost keys, some extra cash or a secret message ... after each blow?"

Nice nose blow at the very beginning of the show...........It is currently on HBO On Demand.

This could be put in the Media Alerts thread above in this section. Just want to make sure everyone knows about that thread.

Thanks for the merger, Lynne. I think the title accidentally got lost when it was merged into this (more permanent) thread. I believe it was the HBO show In Treatment, referring to the character Sophie? I dropped my HBO subscription so I can't doublecheck. :-)

In the April 21, 2008 episode of "Bones," called "Player Under Pressure," a Goth-type college girl uses a handkerchief to wipe her eyes while she is crying, and ends the dramatic scene by throwing it at Booth and Brennan. It's not clear in the scene where the handkerchief came from (Booth/David Boreanaz?).

Apparently this is American actor Steve Carrell blowing his nose, at the Rome premiere of "Get Smart."

On 21/8/08 there was this film on France 4, "Cible émouvante" with Marie Trintignant in it. At one point she starts to cry and asks a man for a tissue. She quickly unfolds it, wraps it around her nose and gives a very cute, soft wet blow

The episode in question is called "In the company of Maya" from season 2 of the TV series. I haven't seen this episode (though would be interested), so I don't know if it's worthwhile.

The context is how people on TV break up for ridiculously trivial reasons.

Does anyone how to get this working? Its a small clip of guy blowing his nose from a stock image site, but its only in HD and I can't get it to play. I have tried downloading a newer version of Adobe but it doesn't seem to play HD clips.

On "The Closer" episode named "Fate Line," the detectives have to break into a closed garage where a car has been running. What is remarkable is that practically all of them, both men and women, pull out handkerchiefs to protect themselves from the fumes. A couple of the handkerchiefs even look monogrammed. This takes place about halfway through the episode.

At the beginning of the episode, a male witness (late 20s?) also sneezes multiple times messily and is offered tissues by one of the detectives.

On the TV series "Bones," the episode called "Mayhem on a Cross," there is a scene towards the very end where Bones starts crying while talking about a painful childhood memory. Booth gives her his large white handkerchief, and she wipes at her face and nose, and then folds it up and stuffs it back into his front jacket pocket, over his heart. He then touches his pocket and in the process touches his hand to his heart. For various reasons within the context of the show, this is a very romantic scene between the two of them.

I haven't been able to find a good link to this specific scene or I would post it here. If anyone finds a clip and wants to post it on Savefile, that would be great.

On the 3rd season opening episode of Burn Notice, "Friends and Family," spy Michael Westen (actor Jeffrey Donovan) pretends to be a lawyer with a cold. No sneezing, but lots of coughing, nose-rubbing, and general manipulation of his large white handkerchief. All while wearing a suit. :-)

Just a quick one, near the start of the new film "Bruno" by Sacha Baron Cohen, there's a bit of nose blowing. Its caused by him crying however, nothing to do with sneezing or allergies.

Yes, I have to admit, I'm a fan of these adorable guys on disney channel, Dylan & Cole Sprouse. I never used to like them until they got extremely hott. In this video, Dylan [the one on the left,] rubs his nose at 0:16 and looks like he's going to sneeze at 0:19. So cute.

Then Cole, [the one I prefer, on the right,] sniffs pretty hard and rubs his nose at 0:39 and 0:42. I was lucky to have found this. Hopefully one day I'll get them sneezing
